          A HELOC has two main periods:

          The Draw Period

          During the HELOC’s initial draw period, which generally lasts 10 years, a borrower is able to access funds in increments, as needed. During this time, you’ll need to pay interest on what you borrow, but most lenders won’t require you to pay down the principal. You can do so, however, if you want to draw on the credit line again.
