The Week in Review

This week saw the final day of the second quarter and the last day of the first half of 2021. There have been significant changes in the US economy since the year began.

About 60% of US adults have now received a COVID-19 vaccine, which has allowed businesses to reopen, the labor market to improve, and the economy as a whole to regain strength. However, concerns about vaccine rollout around the world and new variants of the virus have weighed on some stocks.

The first half of this year has also been marked by high inflation readings. For the most part, investors have shrugged off this data and continued to purchase stocks, hoping that the economy will recover from the pandemic and the Federal Reserve will keep its monetary policies in place, at least in the short term.
