How do I activate my SoFi Debit Card?

Once you receive your new SoFi Debit Card, you can activate your card in the SoFi app. Navigate to Manage Account, select “Manage your cards” to activate the card, click “Next” from the card activation screen and follow the instructions.

You can create your PIN when you activate your card in the SoFi app. You can change your PIN within the SoFi app by clicking on the “More” button on the Banking dashboard and then from the Manage Account page, click on “Manage your cards” and then click “Reset PIN”.

Can I use my SoFi Debit Card in other countries?

You can use your SoFi Debit Card in other countries for purchases and ATM withdrawals wherever Mastercard is accepted. The funds will be withdrawn in the currency of the country where you made the purchase or ATM withdrawal.

What is SoFi Checking and Savings’ fraud policy?

If you notice suspicious activity, you can freeze your card right away from the SoFi web or mobile app under “More” and contact us as soon as possible! If you find fraudulent activity on your account, you’re also covered by the Mastercard Zero Liability policy.5 See our Debit Card Agreement and Error Resolution Disclosure which secures our commitment that you won’t be held responsible for unauthorized or erroneous card transactions as long as you report them to us no later than sixty (60) days after the first statement on which the problem or error occurred was made available. Lost or stolen debit cards must be reported within 2 business days.

What do you mean when you say SoFi Checking and Savings has no overdraft fees?

SoFi doesn’t charge any. If you write a check with insufficient funds or try to withdraw an amount that exceeds your balance, the transaction will not go through and SoFi will not charge a fee . While SoFi prevents you from overdrawing in most cases, there may still be times when you could have a negative balance. This could happen if a transaction is approved for one amount, but the actual charge is more than the amount of money in your account. For example, when you use your SoFi Debit Card card for a meal and then add a tip. In this situation, the full payment may go through and result in a negative balance, but even then, SoFi will not charge you an overdraft fee.5
