• The Bank of England announced it will begin buying bonds in a bid to help stabilize its currency, the pound sterling. Thatās a notable shift from other central banks who have been offloading assets amid the inflationary environment.
• The Commerce Department issued its revised second-quarter GDP print. It showed the economy shrank at an annualized rate of 0.6%. This confirms the second consecutive quarter of negative GDP growth, which is traditionally how economistās define a recession.
