With Black Friday and Cyber Monday around the corner, it’s great time to land a good deal on a gift for a loved one — or for yourself.

This season, nearly two thirds of consumers are eyeing the big winter shopping days as a chance to treat themselves, according to a recent survey by Shopify (SHOP) and Gallup .

Gifting Gap

Shopping behavior differs between generations. And while the majority of all age groups want to treat themselves to something special this winter, it’s more common among younger shoppers.

Apparel and accessories is the top category for Americans, followed by gift cards, though a third of survey respondents also plan to dish out for a big-ticket item during the sales.

Inflation’s Influence

The holiday period can be a stressful time for people and their wallets. Persistently elevated inflation has been a strain on people’s budget — and shopping lists. Even though the pace of inflation has slowed, prices certainly haven’t come down, making sales more important for consumers to keep spending.

Cyber Monday is once again poised to surpass Black Friday as the premier shopping holiday, according to the Gallup survey.
