This Foldable Wheelchair Is Redefining Travel

The Raise

Revolve Air is changing travel for passengers using wheelchairs. The startup designed a wheelchair that can fold up tightly enough to qualify as carry-on luggage.

After eight years of product development, the company officially launched via a Kickstarter campaign, raising more than $20,000.

You can also pre-order the travel wheelchair for $4,999, before it starts retailing for $7,500.

Revolve Air Acclaim

Its portability separates Revolve Air’s wheelchair from other products on the market. The wheelchair takes up 60% less space when folded and includes two 24-inch fully-collapsible wheels, meaning the full-size wheelchair can be folded tight enough to be brought onboard most commercial airplanes.

Even in the midst of its development phase, Revolve Air’s product was named one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2021. CEO Andrea Mocellin said the company received 12,000 requests in a matter of weeks when the pre-crowdfunding campaign first launched. By launching the product on Kickstarter, Mocellin hopes to bring the product directly to users and dodge the headache of distribution.

Brighter Skies

Using Revolve Air’s wheelchair eliminates the need to store a wheelchair in the cargo hold while flying, making it easier to get around the airport and board a flight. Even when not flying, this collapsible wheelchair could make everyday life easier, as it can be easily stored on cars, buses, trains, or around the home.
