Instant Funding Now Available for SoFi Crypto
Last year, we added cryptocurrency trading to our SoFi Invest® platform. Since its launch, Bitcoin has become the most popularly bought or traded asset on all of SoFi Invest. Now, we’re ready to add to its convenience with instant funding.
Buying and selling crypto used to take a full business day to use your funds. But when you’re excited to make a trade, even a day might seem like too long.
Want to use your weekend to dive into some crypto trading? Sounds like a productive way to spend a Saturday! Starting this week, SoFi Invest members won’t have to wait until Monday to use their cash. Even on a non-business day, you will still get instant access to your funds in order to make a trade.
If you’re new to investing crypto, it’s worth noting that it is highly volatile and comes with a degree of risk. You can learn more about the ins and outs of cryptocurrency at our guide to crypto hub.
SoFi Invest Overview
Crypto is just one of several invest offerings ready for you to try right now in the SoFi app. ETFs, Fractional Shares, and active and automated investing are also available for those who want to try investing from all angles.
Here’s a quick overview to get new SoFi Invest users up to speed.
If you’re ready to become an investor but not quite ready to take on the heavy-lifting, automated investing might be a good option to consider. With an automated investing account, you can set yourself up for automatic rebalancing, diversifying, and goal setting. No following the markets (unless you want to!) and even no SoFi management fees.
When to consider automated investments: If the terms “rebalancing” and “diversifying” are already making your head spin, it might be a good idea to let a professional step in. But don’t worry, we have plenty of resources if you’d like to eventually take a more hands-on approach to investing.
The alternative to an automated account is a do-it-yourself approach. With an active investing account, SoFi members can start trading completely independently, for those who learn best by doing. You can buy and sell at no cost, with no account minimums. We’ll even provide the up-to-date market news so you can make informed market decisions in real-time.
Who might try taking an active investing role: Some SoFi Invest users might start with a wealth of investing knowledge and experience—and to that we say, congrats! You’re already on your way to getting your money right. You may choose an active investing account over an automated account if you feel more confident in your investing decisions.
ETFs, or exchange-traded funds, are essentially bundles of investments that can include stocks, bonds, commodities, and currencies. SoFi offers several ETFs that let investors spread out the risk involved with investing, so novice investors can feel comfortable while they’re just starting out. Plus, you can also buy partial shares of some ETFs, which we’ll touch on more below.
Why you may want to invest in an ETF: ETFs are a great way to diversify your portfolio, as the various asset classes are built right in. They often have low annual fees and low costs per share. You can also invest in a number of high-growth companies, often with a smaller investment cost than buying a single share.
Fractional Shares give investors the opportunity to buy and sell stocks or ETFs with as little as $1. Just specify the dollar amount, and you’re on your way to owning a piece of popular stocks like Amazon, Disney, Tesla, Facebook, Netflix™ and more.
Why you may want to try Fractional Shares: If you’re new to investing, you may not be ready to invest a large sum of money into a particular stock. That’s where fractional shares come in. By purchasing a portion of a stock, a novice can try their hand at investing without spending large amounts of money as they would with a whole share.
